It was worth the Wait!

Part of growth is not getting to see the vision unfold all at once. The "waiting" seems to take on a personality of its own and seems to slow time down while repeating, "are we there yet?"

Problems arise, hurdles to jump, and choices to make, it's all part of the process.

But it was worth the wait!

The Beef Sticks and Jerky are here!!

Lazy JM Cattle Co is excited to announce the arrival of our all beef snack sticks and jerky. To get the process started it takes approximately 250 lbs of selected preferred cuts of Lazy JM beef per "flavor" per product.

We are not talking about the leftovers here, we are talking about excellent, quality cuts of meat specifically chosen with the traits necessary to make good beef jerky and snack stick. All cuts of meat can be used to make jerky or snack sticks, but Lazy JM uses only selected preferred cuts, making a superior product for you.

Since the amount of beef required to produce the beef sticks and jerky is specific to each product, these preferred cuts of meat have to be harvested and set aside from multiple different steers. Since each steer has a limited amount of these specific quality cuts, it takes approximately 7 steers to produce the final product we have in the store today.

This takes time, time and money.

The dream of being able to supply a superior product and keep the costs to the customer as low as possible has been an ongoing conversation, along with growing and preparing the cattle for the market. It takes a long time to grow a beef steer!!

We don't often think of the process that goes into our food, but it is a process! It takes approximately 18-20 months before a steer is at the desired weight for harvest. That's almost 2 years of planting and bucking hay, riding fences, herd safety, fixing equipment and weather to plan for!

What was once a dream has now become a reality. I guess all those late night musings around the campfire really did pay off Joe!

Was it worth the wait? We think so!

But you will have to taste them and find out for yourself!

See you at the corner!
