Summer is here!! Have you noticed that Turner has a lot to offer? As a kid Growing up in Turner during the 70's, there was just the Turner Store, Burkland Pool and the creek at 5th street park. Everything a kid needed!
We would ride our bikes to the pool for the $.50 afternoon swim, then hit the Turner store for some candy and make our way to the park to throw rocks in the creek. (even though we weren't supposed to go near the water... which we didn't because we were just throwing rocks!) I'm sure every generation has great stories to share about growing up in Turner, it was, and still is a fantastic place to raise a family.
Feel like a Gyro or some BBQ? We got that!
Feel like a hotdog or some pizza? We got that!
Feel like a latte or a cookie? We got that!
Feel like a cinnamon roll, hamburger, milkshake, salad or a piece of pie?
We got that too!!
Need a walk after all that? Why not check out Turner Lake and Black Tail Trail! A beautiful scenic walk around Turner Lake and up into a wooded area that makes you think you are in a rain forest or on the movie set of the Hobbit. Be on the look out for several bird specifies, including Bald Eagles,
Red Tail Hawks and the random chickens that call the trails home.
Chickadee Trail can be found down by the creek at David Sawyer Park off
of 5th Street. Feels like you are out in the country and is a beautiful addition to Turner. Perfect for a family walk!
Looking for a little water relaxation? Rent a kayak or paddle board and take a trip on Turner Lake. Grab a hotdog or some cotton candy and enjoy!
Don't forget to check out Mill Creek for a peaceful float! I spent many lazy summer days on that creek with the neighborhood pack of kids.
Playground anyone? We have parks that boast beautifully landscaped play areas, covered eating areas, BBQ's, ball fields and walking trails. (thanks for all your hard work City of Turner!)
Shopping therapy? We have several establishments where I am sure you will find exactly what you are looking for, from apparel to customized gift
options. Shopping local is always a joy when you meet and get to know the families that you are supporting!
Turner is the Good Neighbor Town for a reason. We tend to stick together,
have one another's backs and we all cheer when one of us succeeds.
We are all invested in this town and want the best for it. We come together for the big events, the things that matter, and we stay because we love this town and it's people.
We are growing because we have something unexplainable to offer.
We are thriving because we are better together.
See you at the corner!
ps... this list is not exhaustive, there are many more establishments here in this special little town, but I can't seem to get my computer program to cooperate and allow the spacing to add more.... it's a me problem, not a you problem. Can we still be friends? Thanks... I'm glad!
again... See you at the corner!
